Eligibility Criteria for RRB JE Recruitment 2026:
Junior Engineer (JE):
- Three Years Diploma in Engineering in the Relevant Stream from an Accredited University / Institution.
Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Physics and Chemistry with minimum of 45% marks from a recognized University / Institute.
Depot Material Superintendent:
- Three Years Diploma in Engineering in any discipline from a recognized University / Institution.
Age Limit: 18 – 33 years as on 01-01-2026
Selection Process for RRB JE Recruitment 2026:
- The entire recruitment process shall involve
- 1st stage – Computer Based Test (CBT),
- 2nd stage – CBT and Document Verification/ Medical Examination
1st Stage CBT (Common for all notified posts of this CEN):
- Duration: 90 minutes (120 Minutes for eligible PwBD candidates accompanied with Scribe), No of Questions: 100
- The 1st stage of CBT is of a screening nature, and the standard of questions for the CBT will be generally in conformity with the educational standards and/or minimum technical qualifications prescribed for the posts.
- The normalized score of 1st stage exam shall be used only for short listing of candidates for 2nd stage exam as per their merit.

2nd Stage CBT:
- Short listing of Candidates for the 2nd Stage CBT exam shall be based on their normalized marks in the 1st Stage CBT Exam.
- The total number of candidates to be shortlisted for the 2nd Stage shall be 15 times the community-wise total vacancy of Posts notified against the RRB as per their merit in the 1st Stage CBT.
- However, Railways reserve the right to increase/decrease this limit in total or for any specific category(s) as required to ensure availability of adequate candidates for all the notified posts.
- Minimum percentage of marks for eligibility in various categories: UR-40%, EWS-40%, OBC-30%, SC-30%, ST-25%. This percentage of marks for eligibility may be relaxed by 2% for PwBD candidates, in case of shortage of PwBD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.
- Duration: 120 minutes (160 Minutes for eligible PwBD candidates accompanied with Scribe), No of Questions: 150

Shortlisting of candidates for 2nd stage CBT, DV and empanelment:
- A short listing of candidates for the DV shall be based on the normalized marks they obtained in the 2nd Stage CBT.
- The normalization scheme to be adopted for short-listing the candidates from 1st Stage CBT to 2nd Stage CBT and for DV on the basis of performance in 2nd Stage CBT
Document Verification (DV):
- Candidates will be shortlisted for Document Verification based on their marks and merit in the 2 nd stage CBT and options. The number of shortlisted candidates will be equal to the number of vacancies.
- In case two or more candidates secure equal marks, their merit position shall be determined by age criteria i.e., the older candidate shall be given higher merit than the younger candidate.
Application Fees:
- For all candidates: Rs. 500/- (Out of this fee of Rs.500/- an amount of Rs, 400/- shall be refunded duly deducting bank charges as applicable, on appearing in the CBT
- SC/ ST/ Ex-Servicemen/ PwBD/ Female/ Transgender/ Minorities/ EBC: Rs. 250/- This fee will be refunded duly deducting bank charges as applicable, on appearing in the CBT
Modes Of Fee Payment:
- ONLINE fee payments through internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI will be accepted.
