Salary:
- Examiner of Trade Marks & Geographical Indications: Level-07 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC
- Deputy Director (Examination Reforms): Level-11 in the Pay Matrix as per 7th CPC
- The Commission may grant higher initial pay to candidates adjudged meritorious in the interview

Eligibility Criteria for UPSC CGPDTM Examiner Recruitment 2026:
- For Examiner of Trade Marks & Geographical Indications:
- Educational Qualification: Degree in law of a recognized University
- Experience: Two years’ experience in handling Court cases and other legal matters or in handling matters of Trade marks and Geographical Indications
- Desirable Qualification: Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property of a recognized University
- Note: The qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified
- Note: The qualification regarding experience is relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission in the case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes or the Scheduled Tribes, if sufficient number of candidates from these communities possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available
For Deputy Director (Examination Reforms):
- Educational Qualification: Ph.D in any discipline in Humanities or Science or Commerce or Engineering/Technology or in a professional course such as Law or Management or Finance or Accounts from a recognized University or Institute
- Experience: Five years post qualification experience in teaching at degree level / research / preparation of teaching learning material / curriculum development / educational testing / examination reforms / development & administration of online examinations
- Desirable Qualification: One year Diploma in Computer Application from a recognized Institute
- Desirable Experience: Two years’ experience in software applications
- Note: The qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified
- Note: The qualification regarding experience is relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission in the case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, if sufficient number of candidates from this community possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available
Age Limit:
- For Examiner of Trade Marks & Geographical Indications:
- UR/EWS Candidates: 30 years
- OBC Candidates: 33 years
- SC/ST Candidates: 35 years
- PwBD Candidates: 40 years
- Age relaxation of up to 5 years for SC/ST, up to 3 years for OBC, and up to 10 years for PwBD candidates
- Age relaxation of 5 years for Ex-Servicemen subject to conditions
- Age relaxation up to 5 years for Central Government employees (10 years for SC/ST and 8 years for OBC in reserved posts)
- Maximum age limit for PwBD candidates shall not exceed 56 years
For Deputy Director (Examination Reforms):
- OBC Candidates: 43 years
- SC Candidates: 45 years
- Age relaxation provisions as mentioned above are applicable
Selection Process for UPSC CGPDTM Examiner Recruitment 2026:

- Selection will be made through Interview or Recruitment Test followed by Interview as decided by the Commission
- The Commission may adopt short listing criteria to restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable number
- Short listing may be done on the basis of Desirable Qualification, higher educational qualifications, higher experience, or by holding a Recruitment Test
- Minimum qualifying marks in Interview:
- UR candidates: 50 marks out of 100
- OBC candidates: 45 marks out of 100
- SC/ST/PH candidates: 40 marks out of 100
- In case of Recruitment Test followed by interview, candidates must achieve minimum level of suitability at both stages
- Candidates shortlisted for interview will be required to produce original documents and certificates at the time of interview

- Read the General instructions, Profile/Module wise instructions and instructions for uploading documents carefully before filling the form
- The online application portal has four modules:
- Account creation
- Universal Registration Number (URN)
- Common Application Form (CAF)
- Examination/Post specific module
- Upload a clear photograph and capture live photograph while filling the Common Application Form
- Upload all required documents/certificates in PDF format in support of claims made in the application:
- Matriculation/10th certificate or mark sheet indicating date of birth
- Degree/Diploma certificates with all mark sheets
- Experience certificates in prescribed format
- Caste certificate (if applicable) in prescribed format
- OBC non-creamy layer declaration (if applicable)
- Disability certificate from competent authority (if applicable)
- Other supporting documents for claims made
- Pay the application fee of Rs. 25/- (if applicable) through online mode using Debit/Credit Card/UPI/Internet Banking
- Submit only ONE online application per post. If multiple applications are submitted, only the application with higher Application Number will be considered
- After submission, take a printout of the finally submitted online application for future reference
- Do not send printouts of online application or documents to the Commission unless specifically called for interview
- Applicants are strongly advised to use Aadhaar Card as the ID document for verification
